*heatsinks are ranked according to the 125w thermal test results column (rise over ambient temp.). low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. for reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12v) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

With a 125W heat load applied by the AMD K8 version of the FrostyTech synthetic thermal test platform, the Glacialtech Igloo 7223 Light E heatsink yields a poor result of 45.5°C over ambient, with 42.3 dBA noise. To be fair, we have to reiterate that the heatsink is being stressed beyond its stated maximum wattage support of 80W.

However, as Frostytech uses a 125W test for all AMD K8 heatsinks, you'll have to infer how the Igloo 7223 Light E would handle with a reduced thermal load.

Priced at less than $20 bucks, the Glacialtech Igloo 7223 Light E heatsink should be satisfactory for 80W or 65W AMD processors, particularly in situations where there is limited vertical clearance. It's a dead simple heatsink, with no frills and a very low price point, and is completely unsatisfactory for any AMD CPU rated at more than 80W as you can see by the results above.
