The 120mm SilenX IXP-74-14 fan on the SilenX
iXtrema IXC-120HA2 heatsink spins at 1400RPM by default. The supplied fan
speed controller can drop that speed to 900RPM if near-silent
operation is required. A second 120mm fan can be installed on the obverse
side of the heatsink if you want, extra wire clips are supplied. A
standard 3-pin motherboard header provides power. Note the AMD K8-style
mounting clip attached to the aluminum base of the iXtrema IXC-120HA2.

The SilenX iXtrema IXC-120HA2 154mm tall, though
the top 4-5 fins don't really make good contact with the heatpipes. The
rest of the raw aluminum fins are press-fit over four 8mm diameter copper
heatpipes. The bottom-most fin is elevated 35mm above the base for
adequate motherboard component clearance. The aluminum fins themselves
measure 0.3mm thick and are spaced 2.0mm apart. The aluminum/heatpipe base
is 10.3mm thick. |

The base of the SilenX iXtrema IXC-120HA2 has a
machined surface finish, done with a slight ridge texture. The portion of
the base that comes in contact with the CPU measures 45x38mm, about 31mm
of that is pure copper heatpipe. The aluminum fins are roughly 125 x 68mm
in size. A fan can be installed on either side, in a push-pull
configuration. |
