The 25x92x92mm fan on the front of the Auras
LPT-709 heatsink is held in place with four black rubber posts to cut down on vibrations being transmitted to the
heatsink which may generate noise. The fan is PWM complaint and rotates
at 800-2400RPM. Power is supplied by a 4-pin motherboard fan header,
but if it is connected to a 3-pin power source the fan defaults
to full speed. Note that the entire 136mm tall heatsink has been chrome plated.
Also note how the 93mm wide fins are bent at a
slight angle instead of going straight from heatpipe-to-heatpipe. |

The bulk of the Auras LPT-709 heatsink is elevated 42mm above
the base to provide clearance for adjacent motherboard components. The
rubber fan posts are particularly visible here, and hold the fan
firmly in position while creating a 1.5mm buffer between it and the metal.
Four U-shapped 6mm diameter copper heatpipes pass through the aluminum fins,
and the entire assembly has been chrome plated. At the base the heatpipes
are packed edge-to-edge to ensure good thermal transmission
from the 4mm thick copper base plate below. Each aluminum fin
is 0.34mm thick and spaced ~1.6mm apart from the next. |

|
Each aluminum fin on the Auras
LPT-709 has been cut with a slightly staggered edge profile, purely
for aesthetic reasons. A plenum of 2.5-4.5mm behind the fan
motor only goes about half the width of the fan. The base plate is
chrome plated copper, and measures 36x36mm in size. It has a very
smooth finish thanks to the plating. |
