The heat output from Intel processors varies between single and multi-core solutions so FrostyTech must rely on two thermal values to represent the upper limits of each class of CPU; 150W and 85W. With a 150W heat load first applied by the Intel LGA775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Scythe Mine Rev.B SCMN-1100 heatsink maintains a temperature of just 23.6°C over ambient (36.8dBA noise). The easily places the Scythe Mine Rev.B within the top 10 of LGA775 heatsinks tested in this reference list. The Scythe Mine Rev.B heatsink was next tested with an 85W heat load. In this case the heatsink managed a result of 15.0°C over ambient. Fan speed was held steady at 1500RPM, so the Mine Rev.B heatsink continued to run with a whisper quiet noise level of just 36.8 dBA From the test data we have seen here, the Scythe Mine Rev.B SCMN-1100 heatsink is an excellent thermal solution for either AMD Athlon 64 or Intel Core/Quad Duo/Pentium D platforms. The Mine Rev.B managed to perform within the top 20% in both circumstances, and with less than 40 dBA noise generated! It did not outperform the stock AMD AM2 heatsink thermally, but did provide lower temperatures than the stock Intel Penium D bifurcated fin cooler which is in wide use today. Scythe have created an excellent low noise, high performance multi-platform compatible heatsink here. As such, FrostyTech recommends you consider the Scythe Mine Rev.B SCMN-1100 heatsink if you case can accommodate its size, and if you're looking for lower noise levels and lower CPU running temperatures.
