Given the low speed of the fan employed on the Scythe SCKK1000 heatsink, we were actually anticipating slightly lower results from the cooler. However, Scythe must have their thermal design well engineered, as the SCK1000 Kama cooler comes in towards the upper-middle of this list of reference heatsinks. With a lower noise output, the Scythe Kama cooler should be a good thermal solution for mainstream computer systems. There are no fan speed controls to fiddle with, and installation is straightforward on either socket 478 or socket 754/939 platforms. The only possible concern is the weight of the heatsink (575 grams)which goes beyond the weight limit specified by Intel... best to remove this cooler before shipping a system anywhere!
