The
initial test results on Frosty's Synthetic Temperature Test platform indicate
good things about the Coolermaster Jet4 Intel Pentium 4 heatsink, especially
when the fan is turned all the way up to full blast.
At
the highest fan speed setting the Coolermaster Jet 4
comes in towards the top of this list of reference heatsinks. With the fan RPM set as
low as possible, the sound output is dramatically lower, but the processor temperature
will also rise in turn. There is a happy equilibrium in their somewhere -
but it all comes down to user taste and just what applications are being run on
the PC.
The difference in thermal performance between running the Coolermaster
Jet 4 with its' fan at full blast (nearly 60 dBA) compared to
the low noise 1900RPM option (44dBA) is about 5-7 degrees according to
our measurements, on Frosty's temperature test platform. As a lower noise heatsink,
the Coolermaster Jet 4 handles the task remarkably well, ranking within the
upper half of this list of Pentium 4 reference heatsinks.
When it comes to
gaming, or overclocking, high temperatures can really hold a system back. In those situations, you may want
to crank up the speed on the Coolermaster Jet 4.
Doing so means a nice sized thermal performance
boost that places this heatsink from Coolermaster on very firm ground compared
to a wide range of performance heatsinks from many different
manufacturers.
Retailing for about $39USD, the Coolermaster Jet4 makes a good choice for Intel Pentium 4
cooling, so long as there is sufficient space in the PC case. With cool jet-like
styling, solid copper construction, and thermal performance that can handle
the task well, it's good to see that Coolermaster still have what it takes to
build a good moderate performance heatsink.
