The Titan
TTC-CU9TB/SC is mostly made of copper, and comes with a 70mm fan, but
doesn't seem to have the right set of design criteria to really excel
on the small interface test die which represents the AthlonXP core surface area. The initial FrostyTech Synthetic
Temperature test data seems to peg the Titan TTC-CU9TB/SC as a pretty standard OEM level cooler....

In the
end, the results speak for themselves. The Titan TTC-Cu9TB/SC, while predominantly made from copper, just
doesn't have the right mix of design considerations to appeal to the small
surface area of the AthlonXP and offer advanced cooling results. Instead, the
TTC-CU9TB/SC falls into the OEM cooler realm, which is hardly the performance
cooling section most consumers will be looking towards for their PCs.
Given the
wide variety of higher performance copper and aluminum heatsinks for the socket
A platform available, and listed here in as references, we can hardly recommend
the Titan TTC-CU9TB/SC. While it will work just fine in any average desktop PC
with a current, or preferably, older AthlonXP processor, there are much better
heatsinks to be found that offer better thermals, and acoustic
levels.
Clearly, Titan should have left this heatsink in the
hands of the Pentium4 platform where it is better suited. Faced with the small
surface area of the AthlonXP core, it really doesn't have the ideal
design to offer competitive cooling results.
