Heatsink Top:
The fan attaches directly to the heatsink and sits about 3mm above the tips of the tallest fins. The clip sits in a 7mm trough which thankfully does not cut into the base at all, so a good 6mm of material remains directly over top of the processor core. The cut out area on one side of the heatsink is intended to make clipping the heatsink onto the socket a bit easier. The clip is a hybrid; tool/finger compatible.

Side A:
The clip uses all three clips on the socket on each side to grab hold. This a great feature for people who may have snapped off a clip on their motherboard, or who don't wish that to happen in the first place. The clip works with either a tool or a finger (other side).

The copper insert measures 35mm in diameter, the rest of the base is 45mm x 50mm. The base finish is nice and smooth, and very flat. The base is undercut by a millimeter or so for socket cam arm clearance.
