The initial temperature results for the 838T-7G are pretty good, but we'll have to see how it performs in the final rise above ambient temperature results before drawing conclusions.

The final are results are very good for a heatsink of this size - and this is perhaps the reason why this cooler has made it into so many SFF computers lately. Arkua have always had one benefit with their designs which not too many other manufacturers share.

If you hadn't guessed it already, the benefit comes from where the fans exhaust air is directed. In a typical heatsink the air passes over the fins and is expelled out to one side or another. In the case of the Arkua 838T-7G, the warmed air passes over the fins and then out the base of the heatsink where it can further cool the processor off around the edges of the package.

In the end, it is the small size of the Arkua heatsink which makes it ideal for small sized computers, or 2U chassis. Given the choice between the two, I think the Arkua 838T-7G is much better suited to SFF computers than servers - for the only reason that server cooling which is dependent on one 70mm fan makes me a little nervous. All in all though, let's not forget that the Arkua heatsink here has performed very admirably, coming in under the 40 degree mark by a fair amount - and what more could you want than to see a heatsink accomplish that? :-)
