Initial performance is good, but not
as high as we really expected the Kuthtec KTM3000 to perform. Perhaps the copper core should
have been cut down from the top of the heatsink just
slightly as other manufacturers have done.

Well, keeping in mind that the unit we actually tested
was a prototype, the Kuthtec KTM3000 seems to be fitting into the OEM cooler
range. With a bit of optimization I'd bet Kuthtec can improve thermal
performance a little more - perhaps adding a fan shroud is in order to direct
exhaust airflow down through the fins.
While I do think that the Kuthtec KTM3000 is a promising design with a lot of
potential, in this form without a fan shroud, or cavity under the fan motor, the
performance is just quite where it really ought to be. The heatsink is perfectly
fine for standard systems, but this kind of heatsink really ought to be in the
performance class, and it just isn't there yet.
Bottom line, good enough for stock system cooling, but there are other options out
there which carry the same title and offer better thermal performance. Kuthtec
need to optimize the design of the KTM3000 a little more, and then they should
have a winning cooler on their hands.
