The initial
performance numbers appear to be reinforcing the middle of the road feeling
around this heatsink. In all honesty, it is really hard to look at an all
aluminum heatsink these days and consider it for the latest crop
of processors coming out from AMD. For older processors the choices are much less
difficult, and in the case of the Igloo 2400 I'd be hesitant to use it
on anything more than a 1.4GHz AMD processor, with no overclocking as well.

Well the final performance results emphasize that the
time of the Glacialtech Igloo 2400 is past, and that this heatsink would only be
good in terms of thermal performance for a computer using older processors of
around the 1.4GHz mark at most. The off center fan design is an interesting one,
and we really like the red anodized fan shroud which clips into the
extrusion firmly.
On the downside, I really think the tension on the clip
that this heatsink uses is too high. Average users would probably have a hard
time putting this heatsink on, and chances are good that the core will get
chipped during installation as well. There is a good spot in terms of clip
forces, and the Igloo 2400 steps over the line a little too far. In any case,
the Igloo 2400 is a good middle of the road cooler for any one looking to assemble
a computer with an older processor, and it is definitely not suited for
a T-Bred.
