Abstract: With that simple realization in mind it seems like an obvious reason to exhaust the air from the heatsink directly at the processor - further cooling it down over that of the heatsink.

There is a reason why this is the heatsink I actually use in my own computer. The initial performance of the Arkua 8568 is really good, and righ up there with other performance socket 478 heatsinks.

To see the final, actual standing of the Arkua 8568 we will have to go to the rise above ambient temperature test table.

Alright, so the Arkua 8568 has been edged out of the number three spot by the just released MCX4000, but the differences are pretty slight. The only other Pentium 4 performance heatsinks to outperform the Arkua 8568 thus far are the AVC sunflower and the Coolermaster IHC-H71 which is all copper and employs twin heatpipes. In terms of mass, only the AVC is comparable.

Both the Swiftech and Coolermaster heatsinks are pretty heavy as they use so much raw copper in their construction. All in all, the Arkua 8568 is a really good option for anyone looking to improve on the performance of the Stock Intel socket 478 heatsink. While the 8568 doesn't have the absolute best performance with this fan, a quick switch could yield a very potent combination.

Personally, I like the design of this type of heatsink, the excellent base machining and the relatively simple one-handed clipping mechanism. While the Swiftech definitely has one up on ultimate base finish, the Arkua offers excellent performance for the performance system equally as well.
