Spire 5T235 Heatsink Review
The Fanner Group is the parent company of Spire, which is just one brandname among the companies list (Spire, Speeze, or Fanner may also be used). In the past this confusing assortment of names made it difficult to distinguish between brands, and has probably done a lot to keep Spire from any degree of recognition by North American consumers. With the new 5T235 a lot seems to have changed; newer fancier packaging, an improved heatsink design, and most importantly improved manufacturing. The Spire 5T235 has a nice shiny machined aluminum base - a rarity when we talk about OEM class heatsinks manufactured in bulk. We'll be looking at the performance of this heatsink in just a moment, but for the moment I think it is an important step to see that more manufacturers are finally cleaning up the way they finish their bases, and that can only benefit the end user!
The Spire 5T235 is rated for Athlon XP ~ 2200+(Palamino) and Athlon ~ 1,4 GHz (Thunderbird) processors which sounds a bit advantageous, but not out of reach. It is not an overclockers heatsink and while it does have a higher fin density than most extruded heatsinks, it is a relatively simple design.
