Cho-Liang CL-CB00881 Socket 478 Heatsink Review
I'm not sure if red is such a great colour for a heatsink, but the red (hot) CLCB00881 is stuck with it for better or worse. The Cho-Liang heatsink uses a neat little clipping mechanism which vaguely reminds us of the Intel version, but other than that things are not to cutting edge. The heatsink is lighter and possesses less surface area than the stock m478 cooler so it may prove difficult for the CLCB00881 to outperform with just a 15mm thick 70mm fan spinning at 3500RPM up top. We'll have to see what the test results are first before jumping to any conclusions of course, so on with the review.
Looking at this heatsink it is the clipping mechanism which stands out the most. Two sets of chrome plated clips are used to grab the catches on the socket 478 HSRM and firmly hold it in place. With the arms locked down this heatsink shouldn't be going anywhere, but unlike the Intel counterpart, the clips are not full hooks.
This is a good thing in my mind because those Intel socket 478 heatsinks can be a bit tough at times to remove. Most of all, the clipping system is really easy to use, and no tools whatsoever are required.
