The Fan:
Looking down onto the
55 pairs of copper and aluminum we can see the center space where the clip sits which is 8mm wide. Each of the two halves of the fins are 25mm
wide.
It's difficult to see, but the four center fins are notched out so
that the clip will sit dead-center. The fins are bent such out from the center so they are spaced about 2mm from tip to tip at the
circumference. |

Side A:
From one the side of the CNPS6000-Cu the division looks a bit more purposeful. A stainless steel clip slides in between each of the halves and clips onto the socket with a stiff amount of force. Each of the 55 sets of fins are 25mm wide, 55mm tall and ~0.3mm thick. Two 43mm x 2.5mm slits are punched out of each fin to promote better airflow. The outer fins are at an angle of 30 degrees which keeps them out of the way of any nearby capacitors. The two screws are both stainless steel.

Side B: The Zalman technique for producing a heatsink from many thin strips of metal is one of the more unique in the industry, and also one of the most pleasing to look at, especially from the side. |

Heatsink Base: The
base has been machine milled perfectly flat and is razor smooth. Measuring 41mm x 51mm over the whole area, the copper section is just 6mm wide. When mounted to an Athlon XP for example, most of the core will be in contact with the copper area of the base. Since the base has been milled flat only a very small amount of good quality thermal compound should be applied. |
