No, this drive is aiming for a different market segment—at an MSRP of just under $150 (and an on-line price under $115), this drive is clearly intended as a solid, inexpensive whole-multimedia solution…go ahead and try finding both a 12x/8x/32x CD-RW and an 8x DVD from an established, 24 year old company for a total of less than $115 and you’ll immediately see the market niche at which LG is aiming. Not only that, but the combination of the two functions saves a 5.25” bay, too…a very nice thing if you’re out of case space."
