Even a little noise can seem like a lot of noise when the rest of your system is extra quiet, so it with a bit of trepidation that we offer you the chance to hear this particular heatsink. The waveform and spectral images are just for guidance, and can't be compared visually with other heatsinks because the sound clips don't always scale up visually. In any case, it is always more fun to listen to the heatsink directly and see just how loud it is rather than looking at a picture.

As we might have suspected to see, the TI-S8640L posts lower results than the TI-V86 heatsink which made use of a large internal copper slug. Interestingly, the overall difference is just around 6 degrees (note that we compare heatsinks by the small interface die results at 100W only).

The other interface die illustrates slightly elevated temperatures over that of the TI-S8640L's sister heatsink the V86. Looking at this list of reference heatsinks we can see that this cooler from Thermal Integration is still pretty good, although not as much so as the V86 lets look at the results for the rise above ambient temperature.
