Abstract: Everyone interested in performance cooling knows full well that copper is king. The CCK-6035D, the half-pint Vantec CCK-6027D is based on a full copper thin-fin design.

CCK-6027D Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
Something about a fan grill always seems to say "Danger" on these little Delta fans. True to form, and performance, a speedy 25mm thick AFB0612VH fan comes with the copper Vantec heatsink. The fan connects to the motherboard fan header via a 3-pin connector which also supports RPM monitoring. Interestingly, the entire heatsink itself is about the same size as the fan - hopefully leading to low back pressure amongst the closely spaced fins.

Heatsink Top:
The CCK-6027D looks more like a high performance radiator in this picture of it without the fan attached. The clip sits in a pathway 6mm wide.

Each fin is ~0.3mm thick and there are 22 on each side of the clip that cover an area of 54mm x 60mm. Small interlocking teeth in each fin keep the assembly solid. The fan screws into the shroud, which as we mentioned, is copper plated aluminum.

Side A:
The copper plated aluminum fan shroud on the CCK-6027D is essentially the same as that of its CCK-6035D brothern. The shroud is attached to the copper base plate by means of four small cleats and is not soldered on in any way. The mechanical joint is good for holding the fan in position but won't have much of an impact, if any, thermally.
Side B:
This is the business end of the CCK-6027D. Thin fin copper heatsinks have been taking off like wild fire because they offer greater surface area and high thermal conductivity. In this case, about 44 fins measuring 0.3mm thick are mechanically joined together and then soldered to the 3mm thick copper base.
Heatsink Base:
The base looks pretty good in this image but there are a few scratches visible to the naked eye. In terms of surface flatness the CCK-6027D fairs very good, but in terms of surface finish it has that brushed look that we've never been to crazy about. At the very least it is no where near as rough as a comparable aluminum base would be thanks to the copper plating. The two holes are to allow solder to reach a central copper spacer on the opposite side.
