Abstract: What better way to modify the Fatty Case then by drilling it full of big, and I mean big holes. With all those tiny vents it was practically asking for it anyway.

Home > Reviews > Page: The big hole:

With the nice big hole all nice and smooth, the 120mm fan was ready to be installed. Four holes were drilled through the side panel at the corners of the fan. Bolts with lock-washers were threaded through side panel and fan and secured with nuts. Grills were installed on the outside and inside of this fan even though the picture below doesn't show it. The grills stop fingers or small pets from being sucked into the fan blades and messing up the inside of a case with blood and whatnot. ;)

From the outside the 120Volt fan looks nice and secure behind its' wire grill. It almost looks as thought it was MEANT to be there. As if cases don't come with fans in every conceivable location. :) How did we get 120V to this side fan? Well in the picture above you can see what looks like a normal end of a computer plug. The plug leading to this fan is like the socket on the back of a power supply, or if you can remember that far back, like the kind of plugs monitors used to ship with - they plugged directly into the computers' power supply. On the back of the Fatty Case we had to install a plug socket for a power cord, that socket leads to a jack which this fan plugs into. More on that latter.
