Abstract: The Raijintek Tisis is a massive dual tower CPU cooler with twin fans, five big heatpipes and a kick-ass-and-take-names kind of look to it. The Tisis is a big boxy heatsink that stands upwards of 168mm tall, weighs 1050grams and ships with two lower RPM 140x150mm PWM fans that spin at 1000-600RPM.

The Tisis heatsink proper stands 162mm tall, with the fans that height is 168mm. The cooler has a boxy footprint of 140x157mm, so measure your clearances carefully. Each of the five 8mm diameter copper heatpipes extends from the copper heatspreader at the base to the top of the 1110mm nickel plated aluminum fin stacks. Each aluminum fin measures 0.4mm thick and is spaced 2mm apart.


The bottom-most cooling fin is elevated 42mm above the CPU socket. The base incorporates a 2-5mm thick nickel plated copper heatspreader and 10mm thick aluminum block to distribute clamping forces.

The nickel plated copper base plate measures 40x42mm in size. Looking at the bottom of the Tisis heatsink (image at right), from the center of the base the heatsink extends ~65 up, ~70mm left/right and ~95mm down.

Base Finish and Flatness

Flipping a heatsink over to inspect the business end is often a simple indicator of overall cooler quality. More practically speaking, a heatsink is in many ways only as effective as the contact it makes with the processor - the flatter and smoother the better. Base finish is one of the criteria that Frostytech measure in the course of evaluating heatsinks and it involves two distinct aspects. Surface finish is the first; this is calculated with the aid of Surface Roughness Comparator that has a cross section of common machine surface finishes and their numerical surface roughness equivalents in microinches. The second is surface flatness. This is tested with an engineer's straight edge or proven flat surface, in two axes.

The heavily nickel plated copper base of the Raijintek Tisis has a very smooth surface finish, surface roughness is at or better than ~8 microinches. The base is generally convex in both axes.
