Abstract: Hyperbole aside, the Raijintek Ereboss heatsink is built around six 6mm diameter copper heatpipes which weave their way up from a nickel-plated copper base plate to a voluminous aluminum fin stack measuring 105mm tall and 112x140mm wide.

FrostyTech Mk.III Synthetic Thermal Heatsink Test Results
Intel Core i7, Extreme Edition class heatsinks tested at a 200W heat load.
Results based on readings from a 38x38mm copper interface die with 200W heat load on the Intel version of the Mk.III Test Platform. Temperature results listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.

*heatsinks are ranked according to the 125w thermal test results column (rise over ambient temp.). low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. for reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12v) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

frostytech's Intel socket LGA2011 synthetic thermal test platform stresses socket LGA2011/1366 compatible heatsinks with a 200W heat load. Additionally, because the AMD integrated heat spreader and Intel LGA2011 integrated heat spreader both measure ~38x38mm, these test results can be extrapolated to represent heatsinks used in high power AMD platforms as well.

With a 200W heat load applied by the Intel LGA2011/1366 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Raijintek Ereboss heatsink maintains a good synthetic CPU die temperature of 21.4°C over ambient at stock fan speed (1650RPM). Reducing the speed of the large 140x130x13mm fan from 1650RPM to 1000RPM had minor impact on the heatsinks thermal performance. Slowed down, the fan still allowed the large cooling surface area of the Raijintek Ereboss heatsink to yield a temperature test result of 24.5°C over ambient, a change of about 3°C.

(Rubber fan mounts are half-in due to the fact they are spaced the same distance as the aluminum fin tower is tall.)

To sum up, the Raijintek Ereboss performs very well, in spite of the pretty poorly thought out rubber fan mounts that are spaced too far apart for the aluminum fin stack.... if the aluminum fin stack is 105mm tall and the rubber fan mounts are vertically spaced 105mm on center, something is going to be half-in and fall out! [shakes head] Notwithstanding the bad fan mounts, the Ereboss heatsink offers commendable thermal performance on both Intel and AMD platforms and is a cooler well worth considering.
