FrostyTech.com Mk.II Synthetic Thermal Heatsink Test Results
Results based on readings from a 38x38mm copper interface die with 125W heat load on the Mk.II Test Platform. Thermal Test values for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient temperature at time of test. Information on Frostytech's test methodology is available here.

*heatsinks are ranked according to the 125w thermal test results column (rise over ambient temp). low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. for reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12v) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

with a 125w heat load applied by the frostytech k8 synthetic thermal test platform, the Gigabyte 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro (PCU22-VG) heatsink posts very good thermal results with the 50mm squirrel cage fan spinning at its full speed, and more conservative results when its fan speed is quietly operating at 2500RPM. At the quietest fan speed setting, the 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro produces a rise above ambient temperature of 36.6°C with 56.7 dBA noise. Its loudest fan speed setting is an annoying 56.7 dBA, and from this we see a rise above ambient temperature result of just 26.9°C!

On the whole, the Gigabyte 3D Cooler Pro PCU22-VG cooler performs well, coming in about middle of the pact on average. As a multi-processor cooling solution the 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro performs very well with a moderate-to-loud noise output of about 56.7 dBA. It's a good option for mainstream users with spacious cases, but really only if the fan speed is dialed down and noise levels hover closer to the 43.6 dBA baseline.

If you're looking to upgrade from one platform to another in the near future, an all-in-one heatsink such as the 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro PCU22-VG is a good model to consider. The only real downside is the lack of clear support for socket AM2 AMD processors.
