A specially designed power supply was necessary for the TNN 500A case, and the end result is a very flat shaped object which looks nothing like standard CPU power supplies. The design allows all heat generated by the PSU to be transferred to the aluminum side panels of the case, so once again no cooling fans are necessary. When installed into the case, the power supply is only about an inch or two thick, and quite unobtrusive.

The speakers dot this home theatre arrangement while a sub-woofer resides just below the large DLP screen.

Such is the efficiency of the Zalman power supply design that two identical computers put side to side (with the same hardware running the same software benchmark) exhibit vastly different power consumptions. The computer on the left draws about 182 W compared to about 151W for the TNN500A case PC. Add that up over a year and an efficient power supply can save money on the electricity bill in the long term.

Special racks are supplied for optical drives or hard drives. The plates transfer heat to the sides of the case.

The power socket is RFI shielded to prevent shorts and reduce interference.

The top of the Zalman TNN500A case is vented at the top to allow some degree of convection cooling to occur. Large handles make carrying the heavy case possible (but unlikely given what it weighs when fully installed). The handles are removable so that cases can be stacked on top of one another by the end user.
