Scythe NCU-2000 Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:

The NCU-2000 comes with no fans, and uses none. The top of the heatsink is simply bare aluminum. Cooling fins jet out from either side about 25mm.

Side A:
From the side we can see the widely spaced aluminum cooling fins that are attached to the heatpipe. Note that the 5mm thick copper plate is attached with four screws to the base of the "U" shaped heatpipe. The NCU-2000 stands 144mm tall, so make sure your case is wide enough to accommodate a heatsink of this size.

Side B:
The aluminum cooling fins are bonded to the aluminum "U" shaped heatpipe. The 25mm wide fins are 0.4mm thick and spaced 6mm apart. That may seem a rather wide spacing to have, but as the NCU-2000 is cooled primarily by convection, or by inner-case airflow, it has to present very low airflow resistance. The heatpipe measures just 2mm thick, while the copper base that comes in direct contact with the core of the processor measures 5mm thick.

Heatsink Base:

The 68mm x 83mm copper base is 5mm thick and is held in place on the Scythe NCU-2000 with four screws which go into a small aluminum heatsink on the other side of the heatpipe. The copper base finish is smooth, and very flat.
