Evercool ND18715 - All Sides

The Fan: Powered by an Evercool fan drawing 0.18A, the ND18715 is a fairly quiet heatsink despite the 70mm size of this cooler. Since the width of the heatsink is 80mm, this fan can be switched out with a larger one if need be. The fan connects to the motherboard fan header and supports RPM monitoring.

Top: The fan attaches directly to the heatsink and sits about 3mm above the tips of the tallest fins. The clip sits in a 7mm trough which thankfully does not cut into the base at all, so a good 6mm of material remains directly over top of the processor core. The cut out area on one side of the D5TB2/A measure 31mm, and is intended to make clipping the heatsink onto the socket a bit easier. The clip is a hybrid; tool/finger compatible.

Side A: The clip uses all three clips on the socket on each side to grab hold. This a great feature for people who may have snapped off a clip on their motherboard, or who don't wish that to happen in the first place. The clip works with either a tool or a finger.
Side B:
There a few interesting points about the fins on the ND18715 that caught our attention. First of all, the base is beveled up from about 6mm thickness to 10mm at the center. The fins themselves are 1mm thick and spaced 2mm apart for good airflow and the tips are staggered in height by a further 3mm. The copper base is tin soldered to the aluminum and is 3mm thick

Heatsink Base:

The copper base area measures 49x50mm, the rest of the heatsink expands to 80mm square at the top where the fan connects. The base finish is smooth, and fairly flat over the central region where the core would come into contact.
