Globalwin TAK68 From All Angles

The Fan: The two 60mm fans are made by Innovative and are just 10mm thick. The spring wire holds them in place so it is possible that they could be replaced with 25mm thick fans for higher performance for example. The fan uses a Y-splitter so that just one fan header is required. A 3-pin to Molex is also included so that a standard PSU cable can be used for power.

Top: Each side of the heatsink has 20 fins that curve down at the edges slightly. The fins measure 0.5mm thick and are spaced 2mm apart. Each of the fins is about 23mm long on average, but since the center core changes in size they are not totally consistent.

Side A: The side of the heatsink is solid for the most part, though there is one cross cut. The clips hold the fans in place and the clip sits over top of the entire heatsink. The clip is easy to use since the tension is applied with the tightening of the screw and not just by spring pressure. If you a socket which has been damaged by a tight clip, the three catches on the TAK68 may be just the solution.
Side B:
Air from both of the fans is directed to the center column, which is directly on the core of the processor. This way, as the heat travels up the aluminum extrusion and out through the fins more heat should be dispersed than by other standard means.

Heatsink Base:

The base came with a small patch of thermal compound attached - we removed it for our tests to keep things consistent. The central base section changes in thickness from 19mm to 4mm at the outer edges. This change in thickness is meant to optimize the structure so that heat is transferred to the fins and not simply retained by the large aluminum mass at the center of the heatsink. Base flatness is very good.
