The SilenX EFZ-120HA4 heatsink is a full tower cooler, standing 151mm tall and weighing 836 grams. It ships with a single non-PWM 120mm SilenX 'Effizio Series Quiet Fan' mounted to the aluminum fin tower with four rubber vibration absorbing posts.

SilenX EFZ-80HA2 Low Profile Heatsink Review
Sep 01, 2010 - Frosty No.2539
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Tiny heatsinks have their place, but at first glance the SilenX EFZ-80HA2 heatsink really only seems suitable for cooling energy efficient or sub-85W TDP microprocessors...

Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Thermolab's BADA2010 heatsink is equipped with one 95mm PWM fan mounted to the heatsinks' raw aluminum fins with permanently attached rubber vibration absorbing posts.

Akasa Venom Nano Heatsink Review
Aug 17, 2010 - Frosty No.2535
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Akasa's Venom Nano heatsink stands 150mm tall, weighs 560 grams and installs onto AMD socket AM2/AM3 and Intel socket 775/1156/1366 processors. Off the cuff though, it seems a little modest for Intel Core i7 use, dito for AMD Black Edition chips.

Glacialtech Igloo 5751 PWM Heatsink Review
Aug 16, 2010 - Frosty No.2534
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The old cool had a matched set of 20mm thick 92mm fans running in balance with respect to airflow, the Igloo 5751 PWM Frostytech is testing today approaches things differently.

DeepCool Ice Warrior Heatsink Review
Jul 28, 2010 - Frosty No.2533
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

In this review Frostytech is testing a novel heatsink from Beijing-based DeepCool Industries Co. called the Ice Warrior. Names aside, the Ice Warrior heatsink is a 155mm tall tower heatsink that utilizes six 6mm diameter copper heatpipes and a fairly hefty copper base plate.

Noctua NH-D14 Lower Noise Heatsink Review
May 27, 2010 - Frosty No.2525
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Weighing in at 1240 grams, the 161mm tall, 140x156mm square Noctua NH-D14 processor heatsink is large no matter how you size it up. This heatsink currently ranks near the top of Frostytech's Top 5 Heatsinks chart, and since we're comparing it against nearly 280 heatsinks, that should tell you something.

Cryo Tech and New Cooling Technologies You Have Never Seen
May 27, 2010 - Frosty No.2424
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Frostytech departs from the usual pixel fodder for a brief look at some cooling technologies you have never seen before. We touch on some fun tests from the unpublished Frostytech archives and collect all the thermodynamics research we've reported on into one location.

Thermaltake Frio Heatsink Review
May 18, 2010 - Frosty No.2523
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Thermaltake have finally produced an excellent high performance heatsink worthy of FrostyTech's Top 5 Heatsink chart. All it took was two fans, five 8mm diameter heatpipes, a 1kg mass of metal and a little concentrated effort.

Coolermaster Vortex Plus Heatsink Review
May 17, 2010 - Frosty No.2522
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The Vortex Plus heatsink stands 83mm tall, in total. A 25mm thick, 92mm PWM fan exhausts downward so waste air impinges on a lower extruded aluminum heatsink that sits atop the processor. It's both a good use of space for additional cooling surface area and an admission by heatsink designers that the aluminum fins above aren't getting the whole job done by themselves.

Spire Thermax Eclipse II SP984B1-V2 Heatsink Review
May 12, 2010 - Frosty No.2521
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Standing 155mm tall, the Thermax Eclipse II heatsink weighs 822 grams and ships with two 120mm fans. Only one fan needs to be installed (default configuration), but if you think two fans are better than one be prepared for a moderately loud outcome. Both 120mm fans are non-PWM, so they rotate at a fixed 2200RPM all the time.

Thermaltake Contac 29 Heatsink Review
May 12, 2010 - Frosty No.2519
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The focus of this Frostytech review is the Thermaltake Contac 29, a new mid-sized tower heatsink from this well known Taiwanese-based manufacturer.

Zaward Vapor 120 Heatsink Review
May 10, 2010 - Frosty No.2518
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The latest trend in thin aluminum fin augmentation has been texturing the surface of the fin, bending small sections of the fin, changing the geometry of the leading/trailing edge, and dimpling the fin. More on this in a moment.

Dynatron Genius G950 Heatsink Review
Apr 19, 2010 - Frosty No.2513
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The Dynatron Genius G950 does perform quite well on both thermal and noise-output fronts, particular with respect to Frostytech's 85W synthetic thermal tests.

Gelid Tranquillo Heatsink Review
Apr 12, 2010 - Frosty No.2512
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The Tranquillo is the second heatsink from Gelid Solutions, a Hong Kong based company born to a great extent from the ashes of the once mighty, now headphone hawking Arctic Cooling. Gelid has been continuing on in the silent cooling vein, with encouraging results.

Zalman CNPS10X Performa Heatsink Review
Mar 06, 2010 - Frosty No.2498

Thermaltake SpinQ VT Heatsink Review
Mar 02, 2010 - Frosty No.2502
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Thermaltake's SpinQ VT heatsink is undeniably unique, it's sculptural and nothing about its helical fin arrangement is unnecessarily complex. The SpinQ VT heatsink stands 162mm tall and is made from nickel plated aluminum fins soldered over six copper heatpipes, which are really three heatpipes doubled over into a U-shape.

Zalman CNPS10X Flex Heatsink Review
Feb 26, 2010 - Frosty No.2500
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The Zalman CNPS10X Flex heatsink ships without any fans, so users can install one or two 120mm fans of their own choosing. In all other respects the CNPS10X Flex is identical to Zalman's CNPS10X Quiet heatsink, so today's review is not going to be a huge departure from what we saw from the Quiet.

XtremeGear HP-1216B Heatsink Review
Feb 24, 2010 - Frosty No.2499
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Standing 153mm tall, the HP-1216B heatsink is equipped with a single no-name 120mm fan that rotates at 2000-1000RPM and is illuminated by four blue LEDs. At full speed it's moderately audible, and at the slowest speed you'll get good performance a nearly silent levels.

Zalman CNPS10X Quiet Heatsink Review
Feb 17, 2010 - Frosty No.2497
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

As a low noise heatsink the Zalman CNPS10X Quiet maintains good thermal levels on Frosty's AMD/Intel test platforms, and at full tilt it qualifies as a performance heatsink.

Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Pro Heatsink Review
Jan 24, 2010 - Frosty No.2488
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

The heatsink is an aluminum extrusion, weighs 428 grams and stands about 77mm tall. It's well suited for applications like a media PCs and other sub-tower computer format where low noise processor cooling is a priority.

Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Heatsink Review
Jan 12, 2010 - Frosty No.2480
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Tuniq's Tower 120 Extreme is an enthusiast grade heatsink that cools very well, pretty quietly. In fact I'll save you the suspense and tell you straight up that it tops Frostytech's Intel reference chart and that it's one of the Top 5 best-ever heatsinks tested.

Zalman CNPS10X Extreme Heatsink Review
Jan 03, 2010 - Frosty No.2475
Category: Cooling / Heatsinks

Zalman's CNPS10X Extreme fulfills both roles pretty well care of a cleverly integrated PWM fan speed controller in the top part of the fan shroud. Do nothing and the CNPS10X Extreme's 120mm fan will fall under BIOS control, automatically scaling fan speed from 1000RPM to 2150RPM as needed.
